Refund Policies

Find information on when you are due a refund and how and when you will receive your refund.

The college refund policy is established by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and is subject to change without notice. Central Piedmont will apply this policy without exception.

Please visit the financial aid site for information on financial aid refunds.

For-College-Credit Classes

  • You will get 100 percent of tuition back if you drop the class before the first day of the academic term.
  • You will get 75 percent of tuition back if you drop the class on or after the first day of the term through the 10 percent point of the term.
  • You will get 100 percent of tuition and applicable fees back for any class the college cancels.

Check term and registration dates and tuition, fees, and payment information. The college calendar lists the last date you can drop for a full tuition refund for each term.

Be sure to also consider how dropping courses and/or withdrawing can affect your financial aid.

Lab Fees, Student Activity Fees, CAPS Fees, Technology Fees, and Insurance

The college will refund appropriate fee amounts if the college cancels the class or if you drop a class during the 100 percent refund period. Once the academic semester begins, student activity fees, technology fees, CAPS fees, lab fees, and student insurance are not refunded unless the college cancels the class.

IncludED Textbook Access

All students taking college-level classes are automatically added to IncludED Textbook Access with a per credit hour fee. The college will refund the fee if the college cancels the class or if you drop a class during the 100 percent refund period. Students may also opt out of the program, but will be responsible for obtaining access to the course materials and for completion of all work assigned in each course. More details can be found on the IncludED Textbook Access section.

How You Will Receive Your Refund

When eligible for a refund, how you receive your refund depends on how you paid for your course(s). For both for-college-credit courses and Corporate and Continuing Education courses, if you made your payment using a credit card, your refund will be issued to the credit card you paid with.

When You Will Receive Your Refund

If you register after the open registration period, refunds continue to be issued at the start of each week. Refunds are not issued during the last week of the month. Scheduled refund dates are subject to change if technical issues occur.
