Digital Inclusion Week

Join us as we celebrate Digital Inclusion Week with a lineup of exciting events hosted by the Digital Literacy Learning Space at Central Piedmont.

Digital Inclusion Week is an annual week of awareness, recognition, and celebration. With support from the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA), organizations and individuals across the country host special events and campaigns to promote and increase digital equity in their communities.

Schedule of Events

The following events will take place virtually and on Central Campus

  • Monday – Friday, October 7-11, 2024 | Online Chess Competition

    Students will play online matches all week to compete for a prize. Friday, we will announce the winner, who will receive a framed 'Queen's Gambit" poster.

  • Tuesday, October 8, 2024, 9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Best Practices for Cybersecurity

    Industry cybersecurity coaches will walk students through three different cyberattack scenarios. There will be three breakout rooms with video streaming. An afternoon panel discussion will review all three scenario solutions and create a best practices list.

    – food truck: noon – 1:00 p.m. | outside the Parr Center

    – panel discussion: 1 – 2:00 p.m. | Parr Center, Room 1000

  • Wednesday and Thursday, October 9 and 10, 2024, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Center for Digital Equity Laptop Repair Days

    Queens University will host the Center for Digital Equity (CDE) at Central Piedmont to provide personal laptop repair services for students, faculty, staff, and the community. Drop off your laptop for repair at Parr Center huddle room A,B, or C.

    The laptops will be serviced by industry professionals who often lend their services volunteering their time to refurbish laptops for their fellow residents, are CDE partners, and part of the local digital equity ecosystem.

  • Thursday, October 10, 2024, 9 a.m. – noon | AI and Augmented Reality Day

    This day focuses on exposure to different AI tools and methods. We will have three huddle rooms with coaches to guide students on the basic use of text, graphic, and Bot AI technologies. The event will take place in Parr Center huddle rooms G, H, and I.
