Standards of Academic Progress
Central Piedmont requires that you make satisfactory academic progress in order to remain in good standing with the college. The following academic standards of progress apply to all students with a declared program of study pursuing a degree, diploma, or certificate.
Your academic progress will be evaluated each fall, spring, and summer term.
Academic Advising can help you find resources to help you both academically and personally. If you are a financial aid recipient, learn about financial aid standards of academic progress (SAP).
Good Standing
You are considered to be in good academic standing at Central Piedmont if your cumulative GPA is at least 2.0 and you have completed 67% or more of your attempted credits.
Academic Notice and Financial Aid Warning
- You will be placed on Academic Warning if your cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 or your completion rate drops below 67%.
- Talk with your instructors, and your academic advisor about resources and strategies for academic success this term.
- When your cumulative GPA and completion rate meet the 2.0 and 67% standards, you will return to Good Standing.
Academic Intervention and Financial Aid Suspension
- You will be placed on Academic Intervention and Financial Aid Suspension if your term GPA and completion rate do not improve to a minimum of 2.0 and 67% at the end of your Notice/Warning term.
- Students on Academic Intervention and Financial Aid Suspension will not be eligible to receive federal, state, and most institutional financial aid unless after meeting with an Academic Advisor, they complete a successful financial aid appeal.
