Why did you become an
instructor? Was it the summers off, the flexible
schedule or the free apples? Or was it because
you wanted to impact today's youth and
contribute to students' personal growth and
professional success? This
Spring Semester, CPCC's Professional Development team is offering a series
of four, two-hour Outcome Assessment workshops to provide you with the
foundational knowledge, understanding and expertise needed to develop
meaningful learning outcomes and assessment methods in the classroom that
may contribute to your effectiveness as an instructor. They are: Developing Meaningful Learning Outcomes: Laying the
Groundwork for Authentic Assessment Assessment for Learning (Part 1): Getting 'Just in
Time' Feedback Assessment for Learning (Part 2): Building a Bigger
Toolkit, Including Peer and Student Self-Assessment Strategies Rubrics: Guides for Student Learning and Tools for
Authentic Assessment
To register or to see class descriptions, times and dates, please visit
LearnerWeb at http://pd.cpcc.edu.
Faculty are welcome to register for any or
all of the workshops; completers of all four workshops will receive an
"Assessment as Learning" certificate.
CPCC Faculty: Get where you want
to be in the classroom
Let our Director of Learning Outcomes Assessment help you better understand
the concept of "authentic assessment," analyze your assessment strategies,
implement enhanced classroom assessment techniques, develop criteria for
student self-assessments and peer assessments, and design and implement
rubrics.
Did you know that heart
disease is the leading cause of death among
American women?
To help build awareness of this fatal disease,
CPCC is joining forces with the American Heart
Association and bringing Go Red for Women
to its six campus locations.
On Friday, February 5, 2010, CPCC employees are
encouraged to wear red to work to show their
dedication and support of this important cause
and then participate in the campus picture
taking event at 12:15 p.m.
The College will
host an array of events
beginning February 5 to help raise awareness of
heart disease – a condition that claims the life
of one person every minute.
